The postage-free message sent from Private Lester W. Johnson to his mother reads:
Dear Mother
I am feeling good and hope you all are the same. Mother please send me Woudro and Marys address so I can write to them and tell them my address so they can write to me and how they are getting along. Good luck to all from your son Lester W. Johnson.
That post has me seeing red.... Lester sounds lonesome, I hope he eventually got some mail. I wonder if he was on the fire crew, or if that was just the most interesting card he could find on base?
ReplyDeleteI hope Lester made progress .
ReplyDeleteFeels like a playset with toy cars...Nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI have the same card, but mine had nothing on the back. I've been thinking of posting it for a long time. Glad you took that out of my hands. I love this card and the message on the back. Forlorn fellows away at boot camp.
ReplyDeleteAwesome card....love those fire trucks!
ReplyDeleteFiretrucks are always a hit and a favorite of my little boys'. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSo great! I'm with Dorin - this reminds me of fun childhood toys!
ReplyDeleteThere is something so chunky and angular about the picture of the Marine Fire Department : almost as if it were half photo and half illustration. Great card, whatever combination it may be.
ReplyDeleteIt almost doesn't look real because of the age of the trucks and the posing of the people.
ReplyDeleteThat's a real stunner of a card.
ReplyDeleteWhen a man writing to his MOTHER has to identify himself as 'your son' followed by his full name, which is already written at the top of the postcard --- what can I say?!
