And I though I was a fat baby a over 9 pounds! This card was sent to my current town, Ithaca! I love how ornate the holiday postcards of this time frame are.
I love antique postcards because they preserve evidence of everyday life as well as celebrations and sad events. Looking at an old postcard is like holding a single piece of a puzzle; we have to imagine the rest.
I will try to put up a postcard every day. If you have a special request for a particular city or place, let me know!
Was für ein Truthahn!!
ReplyDeleteDer dürfte tatsächlich die ganze Gemeind ernähren
Einen schönen Tag wünscht dir

ReplyDeleteI'll take a leg please... The turkey on the card is about a 200 pounder, judging from his scale relative to the folks in the background!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteStrange, the writing looks like the penmanship of a young school kid, not a mother who's just given birth to an (ouch) 11 pound baby....
ReplyDeleteTrishia, maybe she was a young mother?
