New York Traveling Rubber Co.

I have no idea what New York Traveling Rubber Co. produced, but they used these trade cards to advertise their business. It seems that Mom does not approve of the suitor, although he prevails in the end anyway. These are from the 1880s.

  1. Postcards titles:
1 - Beating around the bushes would uncover Skorpia in hiding.
2 - A broom for the groom (wannabe).
3 - Elope on the slope.

Word to Skorpia: "I'll be burning rubber...once me and your daughter meet the road".

  3. I thought I was going to be smart and get the scoop on the New York Traveling Rubber Co. on Google, (as though you hadn't looked already!) but all I found were other examples from that series of postcards. Rats! Just think, if it weren't for those postcards that company would be lost to time. (but I suppose that for all practical purposes it is lost)

  5. Oh my gosh, these are great, the way the figures appear detached from the background immediately made me think of a Monty Python skit!

  6. Superb cards, even if we don't know what they're advertising. At least she got her man in the end.
