Green indeed... so why does the fella on the first card have a club/stick? I know us Slovaks wielded little willow whips at Easter in the old days, but it was all in good fun!
That's the finest St. Patty's Day cards I've seen. That top postcard takes the prize. What a great collection! I think the stick was used to beat color-blind folks away that tried to pinch him.
I love antique postcards because they preserve evidence of everyday life as well as celebrations and sad events. Looking at an old postcard is like holding a single piece of a puzzle; we have to imagine the rest.
I will try to put up a postcard every day. If you have a special request for a particular city or place, let me know!
Very nice, and ecologic, too.:)
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards!
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed how the shamrock is morphing into a four-leaved clover these days? I'm glad these ones aren't. Sláinte.
ReplyDeleteSheila,
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that. I think there needs to be some shamrock outreach and education - accompanied by beer, of course.
Thank you for sharing them. They are all so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWow, those are great cards! The first one in particular is a fabulous design.
