I suspect that girl and rabbit both hopped off in a hurry as soon as the picture was taken.
Francis C. Swain operated a portrait studio in Monterey, California from 1906 to 1917. Unfortunately, there's no name or any other information on the back.
No rabbits, but plenty of magic over at Sepia Saturday this week..

It's kind of weird how the table top has merged into the backdrop, making the rabbit look as if it is hanging in mid-air. I'll bet the girl's name is Alice.
ReplyDeleteBoth girl ans rabbit look very patient and cooperative.
ReplyDeleteI love the little girls hair and her stockings and shoes; also how the rabbit is holding it's ears up. Cute photo.
ReplyDeleteLove the way her feet are posed. Almost as if she'd been posing for years.
ReplyDeleteSort of a weird background. Can't figure it out.
And Brett is so right! The bun is floating. The little girl was a professional magician.
Great photo and unusual in that taking pets (other than dogs) to the photographer's studio must have been a bit difficult. Love the little spats she is wearing.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if the girl might be more nervous before a camera than the rabbit!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture. Nice spats!
ReplyDeleteI bet she didn't want to leave the house without her bunny!
ReplyDeleteRecently, my colleagues like rabbit very much.
ReplyDeleteI bet that fine, curly hair got lots of tangles that were hard to brush out.
ReplyDeleteChristine, this is precious! I love it. Thanks for choosing it today.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sepia Saturday,
Kathy M.
charming pose, fitting for spring and Easter ahead.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is just too cute!
ReplyDeleteAs the Romanian poet Lucian Blaga said, "my wisdom is The Play[ing]". :)
