Can these children possibly be this small? They seem out of scale with the rest of the picture. In fact they look to be about the size of a potted plant.
Perhaps their growth as stunted from too much wine and cheese? They do appear rather short, but if you scale them to the newel post on the stair beyond- which I would assume was at least 2 feet high- they are more than twice as tall, so I think it is just an odd perspective, combined with some rather large building elements that is distorting their perceived size.
I love antique postcards because they preserve evidence of everyday life as well as celebrations and sad events. Looking at an old postcard is like holding a single piece of a puzzle; we have to imagine the rest.
I will try to put up a postcard every day. If you have a special request for a particular city or place, let me know!
It does look like they have been added and not scaled to the correct size.
ReplyDeleteThe scale looks wrong unless that's an absolutely enormous building!
ReplyDeleteThey look about three and four. Maybe they were just small for their age!
ReplyDeletemaybe it is just a huge castle????

ReplyDeleteThey do look tiny. How odd... but sweet too. Perhaps they are just toddlers but their clothes make them look older than they really are.
