How About That Box of Huyler's?

Huyler's was a chain of candy stores in the New York City area. May had probably discussed going to one of the Manhattan stores with Lizzie Graham for a trip that would include both sightseeing and sweets. The card was sent on this day 101 years ago.  If you'd like to look at more postcards to and from the Graham family, click here.

The message reads:
Hello Lizzie:
How about that box of Huyler's? Think I smell them but I would be wiling to get them if you will only fulfill your part of the bargain. Don't forget your camera for I want one or two snap shots.
May.

  1. Huyler's...Hu let the eggs out? Hu? Hu?
    A box = a bargaining element? Or a bargain?

  2. Women and sweets... Good to see that we're still the same, 101 years later!

  3. Lovely and I imagine Lizzie and May having a chuckle seeing us wondering about their bargain and whether they got the chocolates 101 years on :)

  6. Getting to NYC from Delhi in 1910 would have been a trek, as it is a small town located in the middle of the Catskill Mountains, no E-Z blow down the interstate at 75 MPH possible... I'm sure the candies were a nice reward for the journey!

  7. This postcard is wonderful but I especially like that you posted it for us to see on the same date it was postmarked.

  8. Goodness me, 101 years ago. The odd thing is that the topics - chocolate and photographs - are still at the forefront of our minds - well my mind anyway.
