The Badersee is a lake located at the foot of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain. The lake never freezes because it is replenished from subterranean warm springs. The lovely card is able to convey some of the special reflective quality of the water, although in reality it's more green than blue.
Here's the back of the card:

ReplyDeleteUnd wieder was gelernt, den badersee kannte ich noch gar nicht
ReplyDeleteDifficult trying to guess the date of this. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteAlan,
ReplyDeleteMy guess is 1950s.
Looks like a wonderful place to visit!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Germany with three friends we couldn't stop saying Zugspitze over and over again. There's just something about the word. Your whole mouth gets involved. You have to be committed once you start saying it. It's not a word you can enter into without being willing to go right on through the "spitze".
ReplyDeleteLovely image.
Love that water. Makes me want to roll up my pants and throw the shoes off.
