Don't you just love what they've done with the landscaping?
Apparently this restaurant was good enough that the three people who went there one year came back with five additional people. Must be some awesome meatloaf!
The message reads:
Have heard from Dave - Mon. noon
Dear Mother D-
Here all 8 of us are at the same restaurant the 3 of us ate at last fall. It's lovely weather-just came through a shower-more on the way.
Attended church in ___ yesterday a.m. (left r.v. at 6);
(can't decipher rest)
Love- all of us.
Where are the parked cars? I think these cards might be air brushed and they leave off the surrounding trees etc. I enjoy Motel and Restaurant cards. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I'm always amazed that postcards were made of the most mundane places, like turnpike exits.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing that they didn't need to airbrush out much. I have lots of postcards of similarly bleak places. I can't imagine why they would even photograph them, but I'm glad they did.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the most boring looking restaurant picture postcard I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I don't think turnpike exits are boring.
Postcardy,
ReplyDeleteI have a motel postcard coming up for you! You think this is boring! Don't you wonder what they served here though? I bet they did't use any garnish on the plates.
There in '69. FOB (fresh off the bus)that stopped just in front. No trees or bushes then, as I remember. Remember thinking "bleak" but I was just in from California. Had breakfast and walked into town, about a hundred yards up the main street off Hwy. 16. Then ate at Mack's for my couple of month's stay while working on I-90. Seemed only tourists ate at Cafe 16.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the first-hand account!
